In addition, our mobile phone insurance provides premium discounts based on the safety score which reflects your phone use behaviors. Our analysis of the behavior data on the iOS version shows that the amount of user activity had a notable drop after the start of quarantine in Japan due to the new coronavirus.

Starting from the 4th month, if there were no insurance claims made in the past contract period, around an average of 30% of premium discount will be offered in the following contract period. The data collected from built-in sensors is analyzed to quantify how you use your phone the smartphone as a safety score. The higher the score, the higher the discount offer ( the cheaper the premiums)

To complete the application, you have to create an account on justInCase’s mobile app, register IMEI number and credit card information, and send a video showing there is no damage to your mobile phone. To file a claim, you have to upload photos of your broken phone and repair details , fill in details of the accident situations and send a video that you make a statement that it is not a false claim.

Behavior changed after the start of quarantine due to the new coronavirus
Activity amount drops
It’s quantitatively confirmed by analyzing the difference in the amount of activity, measured by the acceleration, between the first week of March and the first week of April when the quarantine started due to the new coronavirus.
- Activity amount from 13:00 to 21:00 decreased
- Notable differences seen during commute hours from 08:00 to 09:00 and lunch hours at 12:00
No. of phone drops fell by 33%
Our analyses found that the number of indicative phone drops decreased by 33% after the quarantine started in the first week of April compared to that in the first week of March.
